2nd and 3rd August 2025
Very much a work in progress, so please don’t expect too much everyone is still learning
The aim is a very informal record of shows, happenings in the orchid world and anything else of interest in between!
The other is growing our social media, and this blog will eventually be linked to these accounts;

The first event to report on is the Harrogate Orchid Society’s show at Harlow Carr on the 2nd and 3rd August. Luckily the rain mostly held off, and there were plenty of visitors who came in from the gardens, asked loads of questions and Harrogate have had some new members from the event which is always good, and something most societies need to think about at this moment in time.
After the very difficult few years of Covid and just afterwards, it is so encouraging seeing societies beginning to thrive again and shows picking up. It has taken quite a time as some of you know.
What was really nice at this show was the number of miniature orchids on display. Growers are finding better, innovative ways to display them so that visitors cannot only see them but that the orchids are also kept safe.
So, just to finish off this first, trial effort here are a few of the wonderful miniatures (not that I’m biased or anything).
North East of England Orchid Society always stage an impeccable display and their miniatures always have their own spot near the front where they can be easily seen. The very lovely Erycina pusilla, was also displayed prominently near the front on the corner of North of England display. Apologies if I have the society wrong.

David Gregory from Sheffield, on the contrary, placed his miniatures under petite glass domes and they looked very smart indeed.

But, the most popular image by far on the various Instagram posts was the one below of Trevor Crook and Anne hard at work on the raffle for Harrogate
